They make her blind

She lets herself fall
into ignorance
so she can pretend everything is okay
Happy one minute
upset the next
because of him
She shouldn't have to live like this
I try to help her

This is about my friend who had a really mean boyfriend that always put her down and made feel worthless. I hate guys like that.

I like the idea of the hearts- better analogy than rose-tinted specs. I think you've nailed it, too, about ignorance- it makes it easier for you to cope.
